.... stay in the public media or stick in the public mind. Incident after incident is passed off as an anomaly or a computer glitch. Computer techs are allowed to tinker with the insides of vote machines during balloting. The average poll worker and the average County Elections official (in my County it's the Clerk, Recorder and Assessor, and Registrar of Voters) really have no way of comprehending what is going on with the "black box". The only way we will ever be able to trust our results again is to have a paper trail.

The legacy of the Bush years is so evil that I fear we many never fully recover. If indeed it will take a scandal, it better be on the scale of Watergate, with dedicated reporters building the case piece by piece until it absolutely cannot be overlooked.
