51. Universal ID I can understand. It makes sense. Driver's license/State ID, whatever. But a PASSPORT?
In MY OWN country?

Birth certificate? Social Security card? First and foremost, those (and the passport) are important documents to anyone wishing to steal your identity, and they are a royal pain to try to replace if lost or stolen. They should not be carried around casually and used for random ID for cashing checks or what not, and should be stored safely at home or in a safe-deposit box in the bank.

But as to the Passport, specifically -- we are supposed to suddenly pay a hundred bucks (soon to be $135) to travel between states in our own country. That is so outrageous I don't even have words for it.
