26. Here's what's happening in Palin's Alaska
Here is what is happening.

1. There are many Native American tribes in Alaska.

2. These tribes have been permitted by Federal law to live on traditional tribal lands. Some of these lands are over oil or are in good hunting areas.

3. These tribes live in villages that go from about 30-1000 residents.

4. These villages have no plumbing. The natives use buckets to pee in and use lagoons for defecation.

5. Ted Stevens, as corrupt as he was, managed to get $25 million put aside per year to take care of water systems for these tribes.

6. This $25 million/year is going NOT to the native villages but to other programs for whites in Alaska.

7. Meanwhile, these tribal lands do have internet, leading to the bizarre situation in which a native Aleut can order a $200 pan from the Pampered Chef online but can't get to a toilet anywhere.

8. The substandard sanitation (there are lagoons laced with human waste) is causing children to grow up with boils, e coli, and other preventable health issues.

9. The State government of Alaska, when asked to produce their spreadsheets and budgets for the $25 million per year gave a government agency a shoebox of receipts. These were incomplete.

10. The Alaska politicos, mostly white, want the natives off the tribal lands; they want the oil and the hunting, among other things. They are hoping if they keep the plumbing as horrendous as it is, the younger generations will move to the cities.

11. But the Alaska politicos still need money. They USE the native American sanitation issues to get Federal tax dollars and then put these dollars into other programs that suit them.
