5. Hard to break that habit of lying for him.
My best memory of Hughes is when she was being questioned by the media in 2000. Gore's camp had received tapes of Bush's preparations for the debate, and instead of viewing them, they turned them over immediately to the FBI, who ran an investigation and found a patsy for it. Karen Hughes attacked Gore, trying to claim he had stolen the tapes somehow, and the media, for a rare change, wasn't buying it.

One reporter asked her if Bush's camp had sent the tapes to sabotage the debate, and Karen acted indignant. "Of course not," she said. "We had nothing to do with it." The reporter then asked if she would be willing to take a lie detector test.

She froze, her eyes widened, and you could see the fear for a moment as she tried to think of a way out of it, until you can clearly see she realizes she's on camera. She puts on her mask again, and says "Yes, of course we would."

That whole group was vile.
