13. There is hop hop (and punk, and CW, and metal) that is so offensive that no record company will
touch it.

When this music gets released independently, it is generally not embraced by the public. In fact, sometimes people write editorials against that type of music and they even picket concert events. The offensive bands generally break up for lack of an audience.

Sometimes, there is hip hop, punk, CW, metal, or whatever that offends some people but not so many people that it deprives the music of an audience. Maybe some entertainment offends me but not you (for example, I just can't enjoy a movie with Larry the Cable Guy because I find his homophobic and "diaper-head" anti-Arab jokes so offensive it turns me off), but the fact that I'm offended might mean that no audience will embrace the music or it might just mean I'm more sensitive than the public generally.

Under our Constitution, offensive speech isn't banned. It is just starved of an audience of people who won't tolerate it.
