Just thinking that the Obama Administration should think ahead and see how the MSM will react and what they would report - given different possible outcomes. Essentially - how will the Obama Administration be criticized or praised - given how 'health reform' either gets passed or not. A lot of times I think about the possible outcomes of my decisions and that helps me make decisions. I'm thinking that if the Obama Administration would 'blue sky' as to how the MSM might treat them given the possible outcomes - that this might help them decide the best way to proceed.
What would MSM say given the following situations:
Situation 1. Health Care Reform is passed and signed into law. Obama & the Dems forced the issue using 'reconciliation'. The U.S. now has health care reform with a 'strong public option'.
Situation 2. Health Care Reform is passed and signed into law. Obama & the Dems compromised and got a watered down version without a 'public option'. Dems happy they got 'health reform'. Insurance companies and big pharma happy as they stand to benefit by the increased numbers of insured going forward. Repugs happy that they helped water this legislation down. All move ahead taking credit for its passage.
Situation 3. Health Care Reform died on the hill today. Coming off of the August Recess and the Town Hall Demonstrations all over the country - the Dems and the Obama Administration decided that they didn't want a watered down version and decided to pull the plug on Health Reform. They will re-invigorate the debate after the 2010 mid-term elections - where they expect to pick up more seats in both the house and the senate. They think the additional time to re-tell the story of how not reforming health care will hurt the country will be able to get them into a better negotiating position - when they restart the process.
I'm sure their are other situations that could happen. List them here and tell us how you think the MSM will report the outcomes.
