or begins to address our most pressing national problems.

the gitmo thing is a good ceremonial move- but it was already totally expected...and face it, most of those guys will still be under lock and key and out of reach of an american courtroom somewhere.

rescinding executive privilege over george the lesser's papers is by far the best and most hopeful news of the day, and it will be interesting to see if it actually yields anything meaningful- it may also end up being just an empty gesture, if there's no "there" there.

gorge the lesser was pretty busy on his first day(s) too, iirc.

edit to add- btw, i wouldn't expect and don't expect IMMEDIATE action and or results on/for the largest problems- obviously they are complicated and enormous and will take much time and effort to undo- if undoing is even feasible.
but- it shouldn't take all that long to see what course obama will be steering us in to face them. and i'm hoping that he takes much more to port than to starboard. we've been drifting too far starboard for too long already.
so- we'll see.
