84. Only Governance Left
The unions are really the only form of true governance or oversight left in corporations. The shareholders only care about double-digit returns, and management only cares about end-of-year bonus payments. If you want to leave your former union-represented corporations to the hands of greedy CEO's, go for it. There needs to be a second industrial revolution as history certainly has repeated itself. Why would CEO's of corporations earn millions upon millions of dollars when their corporation has declining returns? Why would CEO's drop employee pension plans, increase benefit costs, and hire a "fresh crop" of new blood after laying off older employees? Because it is all about the bottom line.
