52. When Jim DeMint was a member
of the SC Legislature, he represented a district that was very heavy with textiles. At the time, the textile industry was moving overseas to places with cheap labor costs and no regulation. When running for the US Senate, in the primary, he said in a debate, We should stop whining about job losses. This in a discussion of the textile industry.
In an interview by a TV reporter with an audience member at the debate a man who worked in a textile mill said he did not like what DeMint said about job losses but he was against abortion so he would vote for him. This mans job is now gone with the rest of the textile industry.
My fellow citizens here is SC constantly amaze how they continue to vote against their own best interest.
DeMint is also a proponent and pusher of the so-called Fair Tax.
