199. NYPost picked up the story/ Air Rutter, Russian mobsters and Rudy Giuliani
Before you are going to say that the NYPost is a tabloid ... the story can be validated.

October 1, 2007 -- A corporate jet owned by a principal in a trendy Meatpacking District hotel reportedly made several mysterious flights over the years to the U.S. military installation in Guantanamo Bay where terror suspects are held.

The jet was managed and offered for charter by a company owned by the hotelier's business associate.

Yesterday, a lawyer for an ex-worker at the air-charter company said his client knew that up to 80 percent of the firm's rentals of its fleet of planes involved "confidential, governmental flights."

Ex-employee Mark Billey said there were "governmental people, armed people. He did recall flights to Long Beach where they did have a lot of U.S. Marshals," according to the lawyer, Ian Friedman, who spoke to Billey in an Ohio federal prison yesterday.

When Achenbaum owned the plane, it was managed by a Long Beach, Calif., company, Air Rutter International, which offered it for charter.

Air Rutter is owned by Arik Kislin of Long Island, who according to the Hotel Gansevoort's liquor license is also a principal in the hotel.

Earlier this year, The Post reported that a Manhattan company Kislin ran in the 1990s had sponsored a U.S. visa sought by an alleged Russian mob hit man.

We've already seen that the empire of Achenbaum started with real estate owned by Tamir Sapir who is better known as the Russian billionary cabbie who started as a NY cab driver and via electronics to Russia and real estate became a billionaire thirty years later.

Can we get a confirmation on Kislin's involvement with Achenbaum?

MEXICO: Jet plane that crashed with 4 tons of cocaine tied to the CIA and the Russian Mafia

The Gulfstream II jet plane with tail number N987SA has been traced to William Achenbaum, a wealthy New York real estate tycoon (in the manner of Larry Silverstein). Achenbaum says that the jet plane was being managed by Air Rutter International that according to the New York Post is owned by Arik Kislin of Long Island in New York. Arik Kislin is the nephew of Semyon Kislin that the Center for Public Integrity alleges is a powerful Russian Mafia member. The Kislin family, Jewish immigrants from Russia, have made very large contributions to the political campaigns of Rudy Giuliani.

A friend of Giuliani, eh?
Let's find the Center for Public Integrity story

FBI Tracked Alleged Russian Mob Ties of Giuliani Campaign Supporter
By Knut Royce

WASHINGTON, December 14, 1999 — The Center for Public Integrity is investigating how billions of dollars of allegedly corrupted money from the former Soviet Union have found a haven in the United States, despite strict anti-laundering laws. Last month, the Center reported how a small San Francisco bank became a conduit for questionable funds as it, like many other banks around the country, aggressively pursued the cash from the former Soviet Bloc. Today the Center reports on how political campaigns, also aggressively chasing after cash, end up with equally questionable contributions as suspected Russian organized crime figures seek to move into the U.S. political mainstream In future articles, the Center will show how the failure to sift the good money from bad is being replayed all over America.

A prominent commodities trader who acknowledges a business history with a reputed Soviet Bloc crime figure and a notorious arms dealer has been one of New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani's top campaign supporters. Giuliani is expected to be the Republican candidate next year for a U.S. Senate seat from New York.

A 1996 Interpol report claims that Kislin's firm, Trans Commodities, Inc., was used by two reputed mobsters from Uzbekistan, Lev and Mikhail Chernoy, for fraud and embezzlement. And a confidential 1994 FBI intelligence report on the Brooklyn, N.Y., mob organization headed by Vyacheslav Ivankov, the imprisoned godfather of Russian organized crime in the United States, lists Kislin as a "member/associate" of Ivankov's gang. It claims that his company co-sponsored a Russian crime boss and contract killer for a U.S. visa and asserts that he was a "close associate" of the late notorious arms smuggler Babeck Seroush, who later settled in Russia.

Kislin said he met Seroush, who he said also trafficked in narcotics in Russia, through the arms dealer's former wife, who was a personal friend. "I used to go to their house on the West Side in New York City," he said.

Kislin said he had been thoroughly investigated by the FBI and has never been charged with a crime. He acknowledged that Trans Commodities employed Mikhail Chernoy as the company's manager between 1988 and 1992, but said he knew Lev Chernoy only in passing. "Mikhail Chernoy is the best man I ever knew," he said.

And to Giuliani, Kislin is one of his staunchest supporters. Kislin and his wife, Ludmila, gave Giuliani a total of $14,250 in direct contributions between 1994 and 1997.

And this is not first time that Achenbaum was close to dubious circles:

William S. Achenbaum, the Owner of Gansevoort Hotel New York City,
Attempting to Buy the $54 million Mortgage on the Royal Palm Crowne Plaza Resort, Miami

By Douglas Hanks III, The Miami Herald
Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News

Aug. 13, 2004 - A New York hotelier has signed a contract to buy the $54 million mortgage on the Royal Palm Crowne Plaza Resort, and he said he hopes either to foreclose on the Miami Beach hotel or force a sale of the business.

The mortgage came due Saturday, and the hotel's owner, R. Donahue Peebles, is negotiating with Union Planters Bank to extend the loan, his lawyer said Thursday. Union Planters had tried to sell the loan last month to William S. Achenbaum, the owner of a boutique Manhattan hotel who said he is eager to take over the Royal Palm's oceanfront location in South Beach.

Peebles was of course a former partner of Gus Boulis ( ) who was a casino operator and real estate owner who was murdered in 2001 alledgely over the SunCruz Casinos which he sold to Jack Abramoff ( ). See: Abramoff-Reed Indian Gambling Scandal.

And the circle of organized crime, CIA and government officials goes round and round...
