29. Helped a boy be placed in a school that would help him
I work in a community that lives in extreme poverty - like so extreme that they have no running water or sewer lines and many don't have electricty. Anyway one boy who lives in the community was kicked out of school the 2nd day of school - and the school district really didn't offer him an alternative. I received in the mail a random newsletter from an area Children's Attention Home and they were talking about the charter school that they have. I called up the Director/Principal and talked about our community and the special needs that these kids need and within two days the teenager was heading to this new school and he came home with a smile that first day.

Felt really good. People, the school district, his mother had given up on this kid. I felt like I did more this week than many politicians may have.
