...needs to really listen to what Mike had to say about the pastors who were willing to be dupes.

There are a lot of good people who do good work for religion. I, though feel that, in this case, a few bad apples eventually spoil the whole bunch. I will support anyone who wants to reform religion (the Christian church in particular) into a helping thing, and try to get it to stop being so eager to work with an unholy government.

For me, though, it's impossible to be religious and not feel tainted with the current range of pastors who are drunk on temporal powers and wealth.

What Mike reported on the government's co-opting of willing pastors to keep the population docile and obedient is disgusting, appalling, and comes very close to erasing what goodwill I have toward most churches, and nearly completes my disillusionment about American Xtianity in general.
