89. Liberal atheist woman here, too. Can I get credit for
the abortion?

I have never gotten pregnant, but I volunteer as a clinic escort. That's where I'm headed this morning.

Your wedding ceremony sounds sane. I cringe every time people piss and moan about other people not providing free unlimited alcohol (which means the cost of the wedding tops 10K. Ugh!)

I knew I would never change my last name when I was eight, and if I had kids, I'd insist that the girls get my last name while the boys can take his. All this at age 8. Seemed logical to me then and still does. When asked by my parents what I'd do if future hubby wanted all family members to have the same last name, my 8-year-old self said that if it meant so much to him, he could take my name. Parents were horrified. I just laughed. Of course at age 8, boys were icky and me and a friend wondered why two girls couldn't wed. This was back in the 70s.

I still think two women (or two men) should be able to marry each other if they want. I still think my idea with names is the logical and equitable way to go. Both names are kept and have a chance of being passed on.

That's got to be worth something.
