2. Scott is becoming an interesting character
It's almost Shakespearian. I mean, he's done nothing but open a big can of worms with his book. It's not really helping him in many ways. I suppose he's making money, and he's a TV celeb again, but no one really trusts him. Now that I think about it, no one ever did.... except the people he has now exposed. So that's what I mean by he's not really helping himself much. Unless it is really cathartic.

His theme of "campaign culture" in DC is important, and even true. But it also has the effect of lessening the Bush Administration's culpability. "Everyone was doin' it" is just an excuse, Scott. Bush is responsible. And sure there were no secret meetings (well, actually there were!)with evil hand wringing and sinister cries of "Excellent!". Things in reality don't really look like that. But a meeting with coats and ties and documents in manila folders can still be sinister and calculating. And, I don't have too much trouble envisioning Cheney wringing his hands and intoning "Excellent!"....at least to himself.

No Scott. You can't get them off the hook. And that is why I don't think his book is just for deflection either.

What is he up to....if not as it appears in interviews like this. He IS a whistle-blower. Period.

I wonder if, after a day spinning at the podium for the likes of Cheney and Condie, while brushing his teeth before bed, he caught his reflection in the mirror and stopped, and asked "What am I doing?".
