Gravel was likely dropped because at this point, he's the epitome of a non-viable candidate.

In Mississippi, Gravel got fewer votes than Edwards, Biden, Richardson, Kucinich, and Dodd, all of whom have dropped out. It's time for Gravel to officially drop out. When a candidate no money, has been unable to contribute to the direction the debate has taken, and is receiving fewer votes than five candidates who haven't been in the race for months, they're done.
