2. It was sold in 1997 to Cedar Fair,
although Disney did make an offer to buy the park and convert it to "Disney's America" but the Knotts sold it to Cedar Fair instead. I have read comments online that the new owners have made changes and that Knott's has lost a lot of the charm it had in the old days. The new owners (who also operate Cedar Point in Ohio) have turned the park into more of a thrill ride park. So the quaint old Knott's is slowly disappearing. Remember the "Pan for gold" attraction?
