I spent many years in the labor movement. I haven't been in it now for several years, but I never lost the feeling.

An oldtimer once told me the definition of a unionist is if you are on strike and all you have is $5 and another striker has nothing for his family, you give the $5 to the one that has a family. That's what it's all about. Taking care of each other.

I know AFSCME can't strike, but you get the idea.
