red herrings, controlled opposition, agent provacaturs, etc...all's fair in love and war, right?

Would we do this sort of stuff if we felt we were right, and there were bad people out to end the good? I know it is not normally in liberal ideas to do so, yet we should take care. Chomsky is great at listing what's wrong in the institutions but I think lacking in calling out certain things...

I think we should judge the content more not just the means of spreading rhetoric.

What i'm poorly trying to say is that we should get to know "lefty" values more and act / react in tune with them because a lot of liberals too want centralized power (just as long as it is of the correct sort) and is that what we want or not? Micheal Moore sort of comes to mind.
