90. I could cry
reading the food stamp stories makes me think back to the early '70's when I was going through a divorce and applied for food stamps. I had a 1 and a 2 year old, and while I was applying the 1 year old reached onto the desk and grabbed a little clothepin animal decoration. The social worker told me that in the future when I had to come in I should get a babysitter to watch the children. I told her if I could afford a babysitter I would not be there. I could not believe someone in that position could be so insensitive. It still makes me upset just to think of it. We should all remember "that could be me", you never know what will happen.
