26. It's really pathetic.
I have seen arguments raising from the use of a damn card for the benefits. Truth of the matter, it makes it easier to get help than before with the stamps. I remember, living in a poor state, watching African-American grandmothers buying food for their grandchildren. Let me tell you, it wasn't pop or candy (except for the once a month treat), it was everything that one could live off for a money.

Also, I've been on food stamps. I had just had a daughter, my wife and I both were undergraduates, we had nowhere else to turn. It's not like either of our folks could have afforded to buy groceries for us. Thing is: you pay for Welfare, you pay for Food Stamps, you pay for Unemployement so that when you need them, they're there!

I have never seen any abuses personally and I have seen so many cases of people that honestly deserved and needed food stamps, but because they didn't want some bureaucrat standing over them as if they were God or judging them for the fact that they had a baby at 16 because they didn't get education about contraceptives in high school.

It's fucking sick that people have to justify getting help. It's fucking sick that people seem to think that so many others fuck the system. I believe the actual amount is BELOW .5% if I remember correctly, the system updates on all sides and it's not like you can hide a job from the government very well. And, the other posters are right in this: it's fucked up that some goddamned rich company can whine about losing profits, etc and get corporate welfare, but the man that used to work for XYZ company that was outsourced is stigmatized because he's getting unemployment, food stamps, medicaid, and other benefit programs. Fixated on the Welfare King and Queen as the general Republician populous is, Reagan, Bush and Bush II know they could never win anything again if they took those programs away, so they just fucking spend, spend, spend.

Bleh. Sorry about that rant. :D
