8. Call me crazy
but I'm of the mind that they want to set up nuclear plants in "friendly" foreign countries and import the elctricity. This way the radioactive danger is far away from us (nobody here wants a reactor in their backyard - learned our lesson in the '70s), the energy giants get to buy cheap power on the backs of cheap labor (which will keep their profits at the all time highs they are enjoying now) and the administration can say that they have put the U.S. into rehab for its "addiction to oil". :tinfoilhat:

Wind and solar power can be profitable and not completely screw up the environment- hydro-electric has been doing well for years. Oil and nuclear simply give them a reason to fight their wars...
