although it works.

The point is that janitor is being used as an insult - which implies, as most Americans feel, that it is an insult to work as a janitor. Or it could also apply to how our society feels about anybody who does a nasty, menial job. Like even the "world's greatest janitor" has the same value as a bag of garbage. I am starting to feel that a year of janitorial service should be mandatory for everyone, then people would not be such arrogant slobs, but OTOH, there are plenty of janitors who are slackers too.
