47. The Insidious Cupcake Threat!
Cupcakes move up on the menu; Treats turn trendy, but not cheap, in a sweet deal for boutique bakeries

Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle

In Greenwich Village and Beverly Hills, lines trail all the way out the door. They're waiting for cupcakes.

Strange as it sounds, the cupcake is hot on both coasts. Is Houston next?

A few cupcake places are already popping up here. The Cookie Jar bakery cafe in Montrose, where cupcakes are a main feature, opened two weeks ago. Sugarbaby's Cupcake Boutique is set to open in early January in the same neighborhood, while the Cupcake Cafe in Sugar Land has been around two years.

Hmmmm.... Greenwich Village? We know what that means.

Houstonians know about Montrose.

But--Sugarland? Well, they did elect a Democratic representative.
