I realize that some people have been wondering about the e-vote, and whether their vote will count as cast. While the concern is real, I suggest that those who are worried vote by mail or vote by absentee ballot. It is easy to get in touch with ones County Clerk and request a ballot. This way, as long as your ballot is postmarked by the date indicated in each state/district, you can be relatively assured that your vote will be counted.

Here in Nebraska, there is a drive on to vote by mail, something recent here, and there are quite a few voters that will take advantage of this option. I have been working with the NE Dem Party in calling and ensuring that people know about this option. A mass mailing went out with a short form requesting a ballot by mail, and the elderly have taken it as a sign they will not be disenfranchised, and there are others that will use VBM as well. Those that are caretakers for the disabled, those with jobs at odd hours, those that cannot, for whatever reason can’t or won’t go to the polls, are sending in their requests. We have people that believe that the current system is flawed, and they feel that VBM/Absentee is the way to go.

So my suggestion for the naysayers who feel that the e-vote may be skewed, request and get a ballot that you can cast your vote with. Call or write to your County Clerk, get the ballot and VOTE!!!!

Do not let fear keep you from the polls either. If you are like me, and actually enjoy going to the polls, do so, make sure your vote is cast. DON’T stay home and mope. Get out there and deal with one of the most important elections of our time.

Don’t let anger keep you from the polls, if anything, anger should be a motivating factor for you to vote. This mid-term is anything but a routine election. If we can take back Congress, we can neuter the bush administration; we can have subpoena power; we can have the power to block the insane laws that are being passed….we can return this nation to the People!

Finally, get involved…not just here on DU. What can you do to help get people tot the polls to vote? What can you do to ensure that people turnout, either in person or by mail to cast a ballot? What can you do to make a positive impact in getting reins on this runaway horror of an administration?
