A long time ago you could make small talk with a kid or a teen-ager and nobody gave it a second thought. Now I'm really careful to watch my body language so I don't get too close, and I don't talk too friendly unless I really know the kid or the parents.

Everyone's alarms are set at the lowest threshold possible. I guess if I were a parent, I'd be on constant alert, too. :(
