I think you are correct in this case, Fox news is sort of an exception in the mainstream media being a media network that is emminently politcal and makes no bones about it. In some ways it seems to be a high tech version of the 19th century party papers. With the exception that it does not state what party it supports on the outset.

However with regard to the rest of the media I don't think your "V" really works completely. Describing media sources as right-left is sort of constraining considering that most mainstream media sources are corporate in nature and beholden both to that structure and to advertisers.

Of course maybe I just read too much Noam Chompsky for my own good.
