33. Do we really even know it was the Metro police?

Think of all the wild action movies you've seen.

Think of BushCo hiring hollwood writers after 9/11 to come up with terra ideas.

Think of Valerie Plame (or any other covert op) who had an entire fake company, complete with offices and employees and products just to go under cover.

So how difficult would it be for the CIA and/or M1 (what do the call the Brits' version of the CIA?) to set up a few blokes in some Met costumes to parade around for the cameras? Even if it all comes out later, they don't think about later, they'll deal with later later. Right now, though, the trouble is NOW.

Look, I know it's all very tin-foily, but there are billions of dollars and unfathomable power at stake. Whether you want to believe it or not, massive amounts of money and power cause men to do absolutely bizarro things. I put absolutely nothing past them.

"The plot was very intricate, very well organized, very sophisticated, and international in scope" as Sosobad O'Brien just said. Yup. I'm sure it was. I'm sure it was. Apparently we want to believe that only some greasy, hooded, rifle-toting Muslim can put together a very intricate, very well organized, very sophisticated, international plot.
