96.  UK Foreign Secretary Traveling To NY To Push For UN Resolution
LONDON (AP)--The U.K.'s foreign secretary left for New York Thursday to push forward a United Nations resolution aimed at ending the violence in Israel and Lebanon, the Foreign Office said.

Margaret Beckett, in a statement, said she is traveling to New York to " reinforce" the U.K.'s efforts to reach agreement on a resolution.

"The situation is urgent and we need now to complete the task," she said.

"The people of Lebanon and Israel are suffering. I am very concerned about the worsening humanitarian situation in the area," Beckett said. "We need to ensure that we make urgent progress in establishing safe corridors to move people and resources safely to where they are most needed in Southern Lebanon."
