143. Thanks, Will! When I heard that Bush had scheduled a speech on
"immigration" for Monday night, that's when I became certain that the Rove indictment was imminent. I was just going to post this gut-level guess at one of the "immigration" speech threads. But I couldn't find the thread...

And, boom...here you are!

Just a reminder to all: A Rove indictment for perjury likely means a Libby/Rove wall of obstruction (the "sand" in the umpire's eyes that Fitzgerald spoke of, in his Libby press conference) for the investigation into those most responsible--Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld. It may mean that Fitzgerald has been unable to crack that wall. So it's not necessarily great news--although the emotional satisfaction of it, and the positive political implications, can't be denied.

But we are not going to be "saved" by one or two prosecutions. We still have a tremendous load of work to do to save this democracy--one our chief tasks being retrieval of our right to vote from Bushite-controlled electronic voting corporations. If we don't restore election transparency, we are just going to continue to be dicked with, by the corporate news monopolies and their delusionary narratives, and by war/corporate Democrats, who are waiting in the wings with limp "reforms" in hand, to give us the illusion of change. We MUST reclaim this democracy ourselves, first of all by restoring our right to vote, the very mechanism of our sovereignty as a people.

If a Rove indictment gives us courage and impetus--and some positive political energy--that's GREAT! It certainly gives me a boost that we still have a justice system that CAN indict someone like Rove. And he has been a villain, for sure. But amidst the joy, know that our work has just begun.
