What if Mayor Nagin just cancelled the N.O. election

And declared himself mayor for the indefinete duration of the emergency, claiming that the city was in trying times and needed absolute continuity of leadership right now, and dared the feds to do something about it.

I'm not saying I support this. I'm just throwing this out.
