2. Millions of $$ have been given to mega-churches --
by the Bush administration, in the form of faith-based pro-family initiatives, to 'encourage' pastors to preach 'Republican'.

Tons of $$ was spent in the run-up to the 2004 election to convince African Americans to 'protect heterosexual marriage' -- to get church members to the polls to vote for anti-gay marriage bills and for the Republicans who wrote them. (I think it is a huge propaganda ploy to cover-up the theft of the presidential election).

In any case, the bishop interviewed today talked about the need for African American churches and their members to focus on issues of real importance to our communities. She was very direct about saying that the threat to heterosexual marraige is *not* from gays -- it is from divorce, and we need to deal directly with that and not attack a straw man.

It was a good show and covered lots more ground...

It is on every Sunday 5-6 pm on Air America. The host is Welton Gaddy - the Baptist minister who is a leader in the Interfaith Alliance.

:hi:
