2. Great titter and great op-ed
I commented on WP,
"It is sad that Republicans forget that the START treaty started under their hero, Ronald Reagan. Unlike the current Republicans, the Democrats did not play politics with the ratification of the first treaty under President GHW Bush or an update under GW Bush. This treaty is true to the goals of the earlier treaty.

The SFRC hearings that Senator Kerry spoke of had experts from both parties addressing all of Romney's concerns. It is obvious that Romney did not bother to watch them - even though they are all on the committee's web site. http://foreign.senate.gov/hearings/ If he had, he would have seen that the top Republican foreign policy Senator, Senator Lugar was in agreement with Senator Kerry.

In addition to the treaties, signed in the past by Republicans, there was also a question in the Bush/Kerry debate that related to this issue. Both were asked the greatest danger facing the US. Senator Kerry answered first that it was nuclear proliferation. Bush, in turn, agreed with Senator Kerry.

Republicans attacking this now are just continuing their "just say "NO" policy - trying to stop anything at all from passing - in hopes that they can then blame Obama and the Democratic Congress from doing anything"

The comments are better than usual. I think that "sane" Republicans are disheartened by this stand by Republicans trying to appeal to the tea party - aka the Rush Limbaugh/Glenn Beck portion of their own party. Romney should have been better than this. I hope some Republican sees an opening to attack Romney and others on this by arguing that it smears Reagan's accomplishments here. With so many Republicans trying to get the tea party support, you would think that one "grown up" Republican running on even a center/moderate Republican platform would gather enough votes to get the nomination.
