Award increased for info on pfc.’s death
Staff report
Posted : Thursday Dec 4, 2008 14:34:05 EST

A little more than seven years after Pfc. Amanda Gonzales was found dead in her barracks room in Hanau, Germany, Army investigators continue to search for her killer and recently increased to $100,000 the reward offered to anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction in her death.

Special agents with Army Criminal Investigation Command continue to work on the case, CID spokesman Chris Grey said.

“We are convinced that someone out there knows something and we are not giving up on this investigation,” Grey said. “We will bring the person or persons responsible to justice for the untimely death of this soldier and her unborn child.”

He declined to provide specific details because of the ongoing investigation.

Gonzales, 19, was found Nov. 5, 2001, on the floor of her third-floor barracks room on Fliegerhorst Kasern after she did not report to work. Gonzales, who was four months pregnant, was a cook assigned to Headquarters Supply Company, 127th Aviation Support Battalion.
