18. I think the Parties of today are much different --
than back in the day.

Back then, both parties had their conservatives, their moderates, and their liberals. You could get bipartisanship because the liberals, moderates, or conservatives of booth parties could get together and create something.

Today, the GOP has moved so far to the right they have driven out the moderates and liberals (and some old-school conservatives) of their own party and many of those have landed in the Democratic Party or are Independents who vote "D". I believe that leads to more idealogical infighting within our bursting-at-the-seams tent.
