It was a commerical that came out a few years ago and then everyone acts like it's what you have for Thanksgiving which doesn't make any sense, most of the time I was growing up you couldn't even get fresh green beans this time of year.

Where I live the vegetables in season now are the winter squash, greens and brussel sprouts which I love. We always have 2 out of three of these selections on Thanksgiving. Southerners, especially black people, overwhelmingly opt for kale or collard greens, which just start to turn good when the weather gets cool. But our tradition has always been the brussell sprouts, because I love them, and winter squash, such as butternut.

When I fix green beans I make them Schewan style.
