All forms of employee political expression would be banned on school grounds, including these windshield signs displayed during their last contract dispute, under a policy change proposed by the Board of Education.

Expressing political views on school grounds may soon be banned in the borough.

At a meeting late last month, the Board of Education introduced a revised policy on freedom of speech which would prohibit district employees from campaigning or engaging in political activity on school grounds and within earshot of students.

Trustee Claudia Monteith said the policy was not "designed to change people's thoughts or ideas," but to "maintain the environment appropriate for our district."

Monteith said the policy was reviewed by the board's attorney and is legal.
