94. Read Wright
First off, Paul didn't write in English.

The contrast is between natural and spiritual, not between bodily and spiritual. So that's your first clue. But what does 'spiritual' mean in this context?

'soma pneumatikon' doesn't mean a non-bodily or non-physical 'body'. It means, in this context, 'a body powered or animated by the supernatural energy of the Spirit' (as against natural energies). It's a body, but its 'energy' is God's own Spirit.

Read Wright to see why you're completely, totally wrong. Paul was not a Platonist or a Cartesian. 2nd Temple Judaism didn't teach that the final resurrection of the dead was of their Platonic/Cartesian souls. Nor did the first Christian teach this about the resurrection of Jesus.

Wright's the guy to read on this, and much else. You're simply grossly uninformed otherwise.
