9. Big lessons that public/Dems need to learn from these hotline reports
1. Touchscreens are unreliable and insecure, and using them reliably
is very hard to do. Very hard to insure reliablity and security.
Paper trail isn't enough. (www.votersunite.org)

2. Public needs to pay attention to the compilers and compiler software that determines how the votes are compiled. Its clear that
in 2004 the compilers were not even attempting to compile the votes as voted.

3. Huge numbers of votes were lost in many states by compiler defaults for straight Dem ticket votes, in which the presidential vote did not go to Kerry in many states. See previous URL.
You have to pay attention to the default settings. They make a huge difference in elections.

4. Partisan control of elections is a major problem. There was widespread discrimination, malfeasance, and fraud documented in most states, that swung many millions of votes. We didn't have a real democratic election this year. Those in charge often decided who would win in competitive races.

5. Many don't know how to use touchscreens. Most of the huge number of "undervotes" were due to the voter not knowing to punch the button when they finished voting and thus losing their vote. It appears partisan poll workers had a part in this.

6. There was a huge amount of deliberate misinformation given out by partisan poll workers and officials that caused huge numbers of misvotes and voting in the wrong precinct- which was the intended result.

7. There was a huge amount of partisan manipulation of registrations, voter purges, absentee ballots, provisional ballots,
punch card and optical scan ballots and ballot counting; etc.
that swung many millions of votes in this election.
