Because the Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, and the Deputy Attorney General, Paul McNulty, are enmeshed in the U.S. Attorneys scandal, responsibility for overseeing the internal investigation has fallen to the Solicitor General, Paul Clement. He's been strongly advised by key members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to make public the findings of that investigation. Advised so strongly that The Hill says the Senators are actually demanding it:

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) demanded Monday that Solicitor General Paul Clement make public the findings of his investigations into the firings of eight U.S. attorneys.

In a letter to Clement, the senators sought the assurance that the results of the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and Office of Professional Responsibilitys (OPR) joint investigation into the firings will be made available to the Congress and to the American people.
