Bush Lover DeVos slaps the President in the Face

DeVos is one of the biggest financial supporters of Bush and then he goes and scolds him. Is it just me or is he running for political office or something?

LANSING -- Republican challenger Dick DeVos scolded President Bush Wednesday for failing to meet with Michigan's Big Three automakers about problems in their industry.

DeVos, running against Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm, said the lack of discussions with the bosses of General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group shows a lack of respect for the state's prime industry, and a lack of concern for its continuing job losses.

"The administration is wrong on this issue," DeVos said at an impromptu news conference he said resulted from a column by Detroit News writer Dan Howes in Wednesday's paper. In the column, Howes said the president's actions are misguided.

"The president needs to meet with the Big Three and it must happen soon," DeVos said. "Twenty-nine thousand people in Michigan lost jobs last month."

It's the first significant split between DeVos and Bush, who has been roundly criticized by Granholm for trade and domestic policies she says hurt Michigan. But DeVos also continued to charge that Granholm lacks leadership.

"It is sad that our governor cannot make a meeting happen," he said. "This is just incompetence all around."
