Or two lives, or three.

There are REASONS that people do things like this-- they don't make any sense in a larger perspective, but in the moment, when emotions are running high and the lizard brain has control, I can see all too clearly how we're all only a hair's breadth of self control away from doing something this horrible, and having to live with it.

I'm quoting that because it's worth repeating.
