You mentioned that two groups had to team together to fight a common enemy, but couldn't get past their hatred of each other, and one wouldn't help the other in battle, leading to the defeat of both. I was thinking about starting a thread using it as an analogy, but maybe someone with a better grasp of that period could do so instead (nudge nudge wink wink).
