I don't want Obama gutting the Senate to fill out his Cabinet.

Both the President and the Veep are sitting Senators who will have to resign to take their new elected offices. I think that's plenty of loss for the beginning of a new session.

We need the experienced senators in the Senate. I don't want Webb to be SecDef, or Clinton or Kerry to be SecState, or whatever.

There are plenty of other qualified, smart, savvy Democrats out there for these kinds of jobs that aer NOT sitting US Senators. Former senators, former governors, whatever. Richardson for SecState, for example, would be a good choice.
