37. Thanks for this
I am with you -- out in the field everyday here in red state, and I know how tough it can be and how much you look forward to jumping on DU for refuge :-) Most of the time people here are very supportive and we field volunteers need that so much.

I loved your story and it will inspire me tomorrow.

Today, I was registering people who could not read. I had to fill it out for them. They were so tenuously grateful, so hopeful, so proud to plan on voting for the first time.

I can relate to the humbling experience -- and how uplifting it is. I think we are seeing democracy, humanity, at work. It moves me everyday.

I salute you for doing what I will have to start doing in a few weeks. For now it's all voter registrations and then we move on. The other day, I had a man switch his vote to Obama because I was willing to register him even though he was a republican. When I told him that was the fundamental of a democracy, of being an American, and that Obama supported that and so did I-- that is what we were working so hard for!-- he thought about it and decided to switch his vote because he said he'd never heard of a candidate who walked that talk. I was so proud of our guy!

I find Obama's ideas resonate with people-- they recognize patriotism and love of this country-- no matter what level education, background, etc.

I am so with you on the hot thing-- everyday I come home sweaty and exhausted. And then I think, I wonder if I missed someone. It's mentally and emotionally draining and also rewarding beyond belief.

thank you for all that you are doing....I am so glad to hear from you, and it will inspire me to make it through the next racist ass I run into.
