Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have the floor?

At the request of the darling DUer redqueen, I'm starting my own thread on this, which originated here...

What we are witnessing today at the Democratic National Convention, not inside the hall mind you, but on the streets, covered dutifully by our Awesome Liberal Sideshow Carnival Media, is nothing more, nothing less than an Epic, Orchestrated, Classic GOP Ratfuck. It really doesn't have a rip to do with the Clintons; the GOP is just betting you'll think it does. And they're really, really hoping the media will portray it that way, so that the intent is reached: Making Barack Obama a bit player at his very own Democratic National Convention.

As uncomfortable as it's making some of us, we probably should have seen it coming.

It's always important to remind ourselves that Republicans aren't interested in governing this nation. They're not interested in ideas, or policy. They certainly don't want us to move forward; keeping us in the 1950s (or heck, even the 1980s) would be the cat's meow to them. They are playing a Shirts-vs-Skins pick-up game; their only interest is winning, and they will, without shame, disrupt and cause chaos to achieve their only goal. In fact, sometimes chaos is their goal; it's the hallmark of the Neocons, after all. We've been paying attention the last eight years, right?

There's an entire generation that has never heard of GOP "ratfucking." I'm too young to have heard of it myself, but a few months back when I suspected the GOP was behind the Hillary schism, I did some research on "ratfucking." Pardon the language, but there's just no other term for it. Heck it even has its own Wiki!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratfucking

Be sure to read further by clicking on the names of the classic Watergate players... Segretti, Chapin, Buchanan, et al... and (with all apologies to any DUers who went to USC!) the University of Southern California was the ratfucking epicenter. It's a good history lesson, especially at a moment where you can actually turn on your television and watch history repeat itself, right here, right now.

That's what we're watching right now, and smart, mature, rational political scientists and observers in the media like Chuck Todd and Mike Barnicle know exactly what they're witnessing. They haven't used the word they want to, because they're on live TV. But they're using their own words to tell us what this is.

The best examples that this is a coordinated effort? The multiple McCain ads touting Hillary getting "disssed" by Obama. Bill Kristol's wretched Op/Ed on this very topic (Bill Kristol feels sorry for Hillary? Really?). Ron Fournier's AP hit piece Op/Ed that came out right after Biden was announced. Rush Limbaugh, et al, building up steam for the "Hillary was DISSED!" meme. The clowns that just appeared on Hardball, claiming to be Hillary supporters, screaming that he went to a madrassa and they have PROOF, proof, I tell you, but they won't show it to anyone. It's as if this thing went out in a Rovian Blast Fax Score to every major player, and now we're watching some kind of twisted concert.

If you come away with one thing, let it be this... the people "rioting" on your television are not Clinton supporters, and they are not Democrats. This is nothing more than a larger-scale, better-coordinated "Brooks Brothers Riot." They've had eight years to practice their song, after all.

They think we're suckers. Don't you guys get it? Of course you do.

(PS: It would be wonderful if some of our DUers who remember the turbulent late 60's would provide more education to the rest of us on the origin of "ratfucking" at the 1968 and 1972 Democratic National Conventions; I'd certainly love to hear the stories.)
