13. my mistake about the date
he was here on Saturday - not Monday. I ran a search of of our local papers/tv stations for more stories announcing his visit... nothing except the one I had previously posted

also ran a search for coverage of his visit... just the article below. ennywhoo, there were not thousands nor even hundreds of people attending....

Minn. leader stumps for McCain, Hackett
Times-Leader, August 24, 2008

DALLAS Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty Saturday told approximately 60 volunteers gathered at the Republican Victory Center that its their hard work that wins elections.

Pawlenty, 47, was in town to stump for presumptive Republican presidential candidate Arizona Sen. John McCain and he offered words of support for Chris Hackett, the GOP candidate for Congress in the 10th District.

I thank you all for coming out here on a beautiful Saturday to make calls on behalf of two fine candidates, Pawlenty said. John McCain is the leader this country needs and Chris Hackett is an outstanding candidate for Congress.

rest of article just mentioned he shook hands, praised mccain and the local repubs, made a couple of comments about obama/biden. local tv stations ran NO stories

the "Republican Victory Center" is in the Dallas Shopping Center (strip mall)

Dallas PA info:,_Pennsylvania
Dallas is a borough in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, USA. The population was 2,557 at the 2000 census. It was named for George Dallas, the vice president of James Polk. The local government describes the borough as the "heart" of The Back Mountain, a census-designated place consisting of Dallas, Kingston Twp, a part of Wyoming, West Wyoming, & Harveys Lake.

The Dallas Shopping Center consists of several stores- A beer distributor, Ye Olde Clock Shoppe, Non-Buffet Chinese Restaurant, Male hair salon, Hallmark store, and a few more. Frequently small businesses attempt to move in to empty space, but wind up closing within a year. The five previously mentioned stores have been there the longest.
