19. Long time disappointment.
My lack of enthusiasm for Bill dates back to his PR event for the 92 campaign wherein he made a big show of rushing back to Arkansas to sign the death warrant for a retarded man, Ricky Ray Rector, who had unsuccessfully appealed his death sentence on the grounds of diminished mental capacity. (In 2002 the Supreme Court, in an unusual display of sanity, banned the execution of retarded people. Oddly Ray's punishment could not be undone.) Clinton 'framed' his enthusiasm for state killings as: Democrats "should no longer feel guilty about protecting the innocent", taking a page right out of the reknucklian reframing play book and forever eradicating any enthusiasm I might have had for him. I still voted for the jerk.
