Sorry Hillary supporters. I see your glee in some threads. The joy some of you (note I say some, not all) take in ABC News taking debate questioning tips from FAUX News and Sean Insanity. Yes, Hill had a relatively easy time of it last night even though she admitted she lied about Bosnia there was no real follow-up and Obama was his usual gentlemanly self. I don't mind that Obama got tough questions. I think he handled them well and with sincerity. It is disappointing however to see some of you want to Thank ABC for a debate which focused so little on issues but rather on issues that relatively few people really care about and some of you actually think Hillary will get a huge boost out of this! If anything, negativity has destroyed her campaign.
1) Pennsylvania was always Hill's to lose. She began with a twenty-plus point lead. If she wins it won't be a surprise and it won't change the basics of this race that Obama is ahead in total states won, delegates won and popular vote. There will not be a huge surge to Hillary, and furthermore if her victory is not by double-digits it can be argued that Obama made inroads in a Clinton state.
2) Negative campaigning have turned off Americans. Yes, the references to Rev Wright and to "bittergate" dominate the news cycle but it hasn't caused Obama's negatives to rise, rather polls have shown Hillary's negatives are rising more because these are issues people don't care about and by Hillary trying to exploit them she is hurting herself.
3) At the end of the day Obama will still have the lead in delegates, states won and popular vote. He may lose Pennsylvania but he will come back two weeks later with a huge win in North Carolina which may actually be larger than any Hillary victory out of PA. He has a 50-50 chance of winning Indiana. He will win Oregon and take the final two contests in Montana and South Dakota (a recent poll of SD indicates he has a double digit-lead and Montana is in a region that Obama has dominated). I concede Hill will likely win West Virginia and Kentucky. They will split Guam and Puerto Rico.
4) The Super Delegates will then come forward and I believe most will endorse the person with the most votes, delegates won, and states won and who, according to polls, is considered the most electable and honest of the two remaining candidates.
Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee for President in 2008. The party will unite and he will defeat John McPain.
