Knock it off.

Seriously, knock it off. Your pleas for unity and compromise will have zero effect on this board. People post vitriol and flames here because we like it and enjoy a good brawl, as odd and foreign as that might seem. Some people just get their kicks that way, and there's nothing wrong with it, and we resent being told that we're going to "destroy" anything by acting in our nature. Politics has never been kind, nice, and civil, and it never will be.

All you do by attempting to stop it is to open yourselves up to being a target of the flaming that you say you abhor so much.
