I live in Oregon where we have vote by mail, it works. I think we should definitely look into it on a state by state business! I think one of the better ways to pull "independents" back into the fold is through old-fashioned door to door party building. No one knows eachother in their neighborhoods anymore outside of the very urban and the very rural IMHO. So ultimately I do believe that government by party must be local in the fruition of victory if we are to have any hope at all. I think some FCC and FEC reform would go a long ways towards that.
